Concurrent Engineering is a relatively new branch of Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering and is fast catching up with Indian industries. Industries which have implemented concurrent engineering in their design, development, and manufacturing activities have reaped many benefits such as reduced manufacturing lead time, have become agile, and are able to incorporate quick design changes and variations in a short-time and continue to remain competitive.
Realizing the significance of this subject, many universities incorporated “Concurrent Engineering” as a full-fledged subject in their Mechanical Engineering Curriculum. Students of manufacturing/production engineering should have a good knowledge of this subject which will be useful to them when they join the industries and start building up a career in engineering.
