Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, zu untersuchen, inwieweit eine Integration dieser gro en Bevölkerungsgruppe in die bundesrepublikanische Gesellschaft bereits stattgefunden hat, sowie mögliche Integrationshemmnisse in der Vergangenheit und in der Gegenwart aufzuzeigen und zu analysieren. Des weiteren soll eine Antwort auf die Frage gegeben werden, ob der in den Medien zunehmend Verwendung findende Begriff der "Parallelgesellschaft" eine zutreffende Bezeichnung für das Zusammenleben zwischen türkischer Minderheits- und deutscher Mehrheitsgesellschaft ist. Zu Beginn der Arbeit wird versucht werden, den zum Schlagwort verkommenen Begriff der "Parallelgesellschaft" zu definieren. Es soll aufgezeigt werden, wie diese Bezeichnung entstand, was sie eigentlich bezeichnen soll, und inwiefern ein Bedeutungswandel zu beobachten ist. Im Anschluss erfolgt ein kurzer Abriss der geschichtlichen Entwicklung der türkischen Zuwanderung in die Bundesrepublik Deutschland. In einem nächsten Schritt sollen die Lebensumwelt und Lebenserfahrungen von Türken in Deutschland sowohl auf Grundlage empirischer Ergebnisse als auch exemplarisch aufgezeigt und analysiert werden. Ein Schwerpunkt wird dabei das Traditionsverständnis und die Religion sein, da diese bei oberflächlicher Betrachtung meist als bestimmende Determinanten einer Integrationsunfähigkeit aufgeführt werden. Da für ein friedliches, gemeinsames und freundschaftliches Zusammenleben in der Zukunft die heutige Jugend wegweisend ist, wird au erdem der Altersgruppe der 14-29 jährigen Türken besondere Beachtung geschenkt. Um eine eindimensionale Betrachtungsweise zu verhindern, wird auch untersucht werden, inwieweit die in Deutschland lebenden Türken als
