The book has been designed to meet the latest course requirements of Indian universities and brings together the essential materials required for both undergraduate and postgraduate students of Civil, Mechanical, and Aerospace Engineering. The entire book has been divided in five chapters covering a comprehensive study of the subject. The initial two chapters deal with analysis of Stress and Strain. The next chapter deals with relationship between Stress and Strain. While the fourth chapter deals with various stress functions. The last chapter of the book describes the Polar Coordinates System. Through out the book, the subject matter has been presented from students' perspective that is ideal for independent study. A.N. Shankar, B.E. (Civil), M.Tech. (Computer Aided Design of Structures), has more than a decade of experience in both teaching and civil consultancy. He has to his credit numerous textbooks on various Civil Engineering subjects viz. Structural Concrete, Indeterminate Structures, and Matrix Methods of Structural Analysis. He has also published various articles related to Civil Engineering domain. Presently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. from the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun. His areas of subject include Cement Concrete Nanocomposites, Structural Safety, and Structural Mechanics.
