T.S. Eliot: A Critical Study is the outcome of the author’s continued study and research of Eliot’s literary output, demonstrating his valid critical insight and sound judgment. Eliot was an American by birth and education, an Anglo-Catholic by religion, a Britisher by way of ‘naturalized citizenship’, a deeprooted European by a sense of culture, a ‘universal poet’ and an ‘international hero’ by means of his creative talent and art. The author's perspective about Eliot’s indebtedness to Indian thought and tradition is well-researched and documented, backed by a host of Indian professors and scholars as well as established Western academicians like Grover Smith of Duke University and Charles M. Dr. Amar Nath Dwivedi is a retired Senior Professor of English at the University of Allahabad. His Ph.D. thesis, Indian Thought and Tradition in T.S. Eliot’s Poetry, was published in 1977. Dr. Dwivedi has published multiple books on literary criticism and about seventy research papers and articles in national and international journals. He has also contributed about half a dozen poems in translation (Hindi to English) to Voices of Emergency, edited by Prof. John O. Perry and published simultaneously in India and America. He is listed in the International Who’s Who of Cambridge in the Book of Honor and in the International Who’s Who of Contemporary Achievement of Cambridgeshire. He has participated in many national seminars and conferences, delivered talks and recited his poems in English over the AIR. He is on the board of advisors for several literary journals, such as The Quest, Vedic Path, Canopy and New Literary Horizons.
