Grammar is the base on which the correct structure of sentences is laid.

The book encapsulates adequate description, apt explanation and scientific presentation of all the major aspects of English grammar. The grammar aims to describe the ways a language should be used to fulfill the communicative needs. This has been taken care of in the book. In addition, attempt has been made to explain the role of various constituents of grammar and their underlying patterns that form acceptable grammar structures.

Apart from explaining the usage of parts of speech like noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, adverb, preposition, conjunction, article, etc. other important aspects of core grammar like sentence, time and tense, subject-verb agreement, voice, and narration have also been dealt with. Exclusive chapters have been devoted to punctuation and idioms and phrases.

Since writing is an integral part of English skills, paragraph writing, precis writing, and letter writing have been included in the book, besides reading comprehension which is another important English skill. Latest trends in these areas have been given to keep the readers up-to-date. Another important feature of the book is the inclusion of a large number of examples and exercises for easy comprehension by the readers.

Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma has been teaching English and linguistics at university level for 18 years in India and abroad. He has taught linguistics in the universities of Africa and Middle East for more than five years. He has authored four books in addition to nearly 20 research papers published in reputed journals. He has participated in more than a dozen of national and international seminars and conferences, and chaired plenary sessions. He is regularly invited as a resource person for delivering lectures on linguistics and English language teaching by different universities and academic institutions. He is a Senator of Ranchi University, Ranchi in Jharkhand. As a permanent Senior Faculty of Ranchi University, presently, he is heading English Department of Simdega College, Simdega. He supervises doctoral research also.

Born and brought up in rural surroundings, Dr Bhushan Singh, received his education from BRA Bihar University, Muzaffarpur. His sincere effort in academic field brought an opportunity for him to serve as an Assistant Professor of English in AL-Mergib University, Libya (North Africa). His stay in that alien land nearly for four years gave rise to the creation of two grammar books titled Imperial English Grammar and Comprehensive English Grammar. At present, he is heading the Department of English at Purvottar Railway College, Sonpur (Saran).
