C Programming with Solved Problems (Paperback - 2016)

C is a general-purpose, imperative computer programming language, supporting structured programming, lexical variable scope and recursion. As it provides the constructs that map efficiently to typical machine instructions, it has found lasting use in various types of applications.

The book C Programming with Solved Problems is authored focusing on the syllabi of Indian universities offering courses in B.Tech., B.E., M.C.A., M.Sc., M.Com. with Computer, B.Sc. (Maths, Physics, Computer, Electronics, IT), B.Com. with Computer, B.A. with Computer, and Engineering Diploma. Each chapter has solved programs, and many previous years’ solved university programming questions have been given at the end of the book. The number of solved programs in the book is more than 250.

The subject matter has been divided into 11 chapters for focused study. Chapter 1 explains the fundamentals of C programming, while chapter 2 introduces the C program. Chapter 3 gives the basis of control statements followed by chapter 4 which teaches advanced control statement. The one- and multi-dimensional programs are covered in detail in chapter 5. Chapter 6 gives a clear and detailed information on functions, while chapter 7 discusses string handling. Chapter 8 gives a comprehensive picture of structure and union. The pointers are covered in chapter 9. Chapter 10 deals with all portions that are required to study about files. The advanced topics like enumeration, typedef, command line arguments, storage classes, etc. are covered in detail in Chapter 11.

Sojan Lal, Ph.D. from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala, is Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, MBITS, Kerala, and Research Supervisor for Ph.D. programs of University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun, as well as School of Computer Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala.

Dr. Lal has also obtained M.B.A. from Strathclyde Business School, Scotland, UK, and is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (FIE-India). He was the District Operating Board Member for ASME, Middle East and Africa region. He is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in the World since 2009 as the biographical reference representing the world’s most accomplished individuals. He has 30 years of academic and industrial experience with 70 publications, inclusive of four technical books.

Jeeva Jose, Ph.D. in Computer Science from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, is a faculty member at BPC College, Kerala. Her areas of interest include World Wide Web, Data Mining and Cyber Laws. She has been in higher education for the last 16 years. She has published more than twenty research papers in various referred journals. She has edited three books and has given many invited talks in various conferences. She is a recipient of ACM-W Scholarship provided by the Association for Computing Machinery, New York for young women research scholars from the developing countries.

Edwin Basil Lal, M.Tech. from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, is the Academic Coordinator at Asian Institute of Petroleum and Construction Technology (AIPCT), Kadavanthra, Cochin, Kerala. He has three publications to his credit and is a member of ASNT and IEEE.
