Throughout the history of human civilization, the discourse on gender has remained one of the most complex subjects and social institutions have shaped our existence as gendered beings that is expressed through philosophical contentions, cultural symbolisms and domestic rituals. This discourse has created controversies, conflicts as well as inequalities and thus raising critical debates on gender while sensitizing these issues through art, literature, and aesthetics continue to remain a challenge for writers and researchers alike. Decoding Gender Through Literature: Crafting One’s Own canvas seeks to address how gender as a phenomenon is conceptualized, and the discourse is (re)constructed through multifarious art forms. This insightful volume carries critical arguments, debates, and concepts posed by various scholars from India on the issues of gender sensitization. The theme of the book captures the manifold perspectives and controversies arising out of ancient Hindu mythology, folk cultures, Indian fiction, historical novels, tribal groups as well as the LGBT community.
