ECOLOGY, LITERATURE, AND CULTURE: An Anthology of Recent Studies (Hardbound-2022)

At a time when literary criticism is trying to go green, this anthology joins the distinguished list of anthologies published earlier and would serve not only to complement but also to extend the debate and discussion on literature, culture, and ecology. The twelve essays included in this volume try to delve into the ecology, literature, and culture relationship and their representation from a wide variety of positions, thereby invoking a plurality of many different voices—something that is central to ecocritical consciousness.

Animesh Roy, M.A., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of English at St. Xavier’s College, Simdega (affiliated to Ranchi University), in Jharkhand, India. He has also taught in colleges under The University of Burdwan, Burdwan, Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol, and Netaji Subhas Open University in West Bengal. His areas of research interest include environmental humanities, postcolonial studies, medical humanities, indigenous studies, gender studies, communication studies, and the North-South discourses. His most recent publication is Provincializing Ecocriticism: Postcolonial Ecocritical Thoughts and Environmental-Historical Difference (Lexington Books, 2021). His forthcoming publications both on folklore and desert literature are to be published by Routledge, USA (2022), and another on ethnomedicine by Bloomsbury, USA (2022).
