Library Management is a complete treatise on the working of library. The book is structured into two Volumes. The chapters on the management, organization structure, circulation, library rules, maintenance and preservation of library material constitute the first Volume of the book. Beginning with the definition of Management it includes in its introductory chapter the estimated objectives and established policies related to Management. Having specialized in the subject and served in the field of Library and Information Science for forty years, I am well acquainted with all its aspects and procedures; and as such I can assertively say that University Library Management is fully based on Business Management concept and principles. This concept is analytically presented in this volume.

Furthermore, the book presents a detailed study of the various departments—Technical Circulation, Acquisition, and Reference. The special attraction of this volume is its chapters highlighting the library cooperation, communication and coordination, inter-library loan, budget, and library statistics. Besides these, the extensive informations on Academic Libraries and Public Library are highly valuable.

The book seeks to focus best practice and to offer sufficient insight to methods and to provide valuable guidance to librarians. It will be extremely useful to students, researchers and teachers of Library Science.

Dr. C.K. Sharma, is a known figure in the field of Library and Information Science. He has served in this profession for forty years. He has also worked as Assistant Librarian as well as Lecturer in the Ravishankar University; and Incharge University Librarian in the Agra University. He also served the same University as Reader and Head, Department of Library and Information Science. He is a Founder Head of Department of Library & Information Science of Agra University; IME, Sahibabad; M.M. Modi College, Modinagar.

He has served as Director, UIMT, and Chief Proctor/Chief Warden and Development Officer in the SRM Institute of Management and Technology, Modinagar.

Dr. Sharma has written 27 books till date on Library & Information Science, General Studies, and History. His two books, Research Methodology and Historical Places of India are very popular. He has attended many National and International Conferences. He is Founder President of Chhattisgarh Library Association. He is a life member of ILA and UPLA.

Dr. Kiran Singh, M.A., Pol. Sc., History, Hindi, M.Lib. & Info. Sc., Ph.D., D.Litt., is a renowned person in the field of education and library and information science. He has to his credit a great number of awards, the most recent being Sikshavid Award [2003], Dr. Ambedhkar Ratna Award [2002], Meerut Ratna Award [1999], Sher-e-Punjab Award [1997]. For the last several years he has been awarded Ideal Teacher Award. At present, he is serving as a Librarian, NAS P.G. College, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He has published more than fifty articles in various magazines and journals. Besides these, he has published various poems on patriotism that received great applause.
