National Higher Education Policy 2020: How to Make it Happen (Hardbound-2022)

NEP-2020 envisions a complete overhaul and re-energising of the higher education system in the country with the purpose to deliver high-quality higher education, with greater equity and inclusion. The new policy offers far-reaching amendments and transformational reforms in school and higher education. Apart from making students equipped with 21st century knowledge and skills, one of the stated aims of the policy is to instill pride in being Indian not only in thought but also in spirit, intellect, and deeds.

Policies deliver due dividends only when implemented in letter and spirit. For successful implementation of NEP-2020, among other things, effective planning in its implementation at the grassroot level would be critical which requires a thorough understanding particularly of those people who have to actually implement it. It is in line with this intention the book has been written which is aimed to act as a guide to different stakeholders in the effective implementation of the National Higher Education Policy- 2020. The book highlights all the important proposals contained in the new policy. The most important feature of this book is that it discusses in detail “What needs to be done at different levels for the implementation of the various proposals in letter and spirit?” Besides, all the aspects of leadership and governance in higher educational institutions have been discussed which are expected to go a long way in helping the institutional leaders in providing very effective and meaningful leadership and governance in their respective higher educational institutions.

Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Butt has done M.Com., Post-graduate Diploma in Business Administration, M.Phil., and Ph.D. and is serving as Professor in the Department of Commerce, University of Kashmir. During his 30 years of service in University of Kashmir, apart from teaching and research, he has held important administrative positions. To his credit is more than 15 years Academic Administrative Experience at all levels of organizational hierarchy of a university like Registrar, Dean of the Faculty, Director of Satellite Campus, Head of the Department. Besides, he has been a member of Apex Decision Making Bodies of University of Kashmir & other universities like University Academic Council, University Finance Committee, Building Committee, University Syndicate, University Council, etc. Apart from having remained actively involved in administration, he was actively involved in teaching and research. Consistently, he has been rated by the students as the most effective teacher. As a researcher, apart from supervising research for the award of M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degrees, he remained actively involved in the conduct of research. So far, he has authored three books, besides having published numerous research papers in journals of repute. To his credit is also an international experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. He has taught at Sharjah College, Sharjah & Centre for American Education, Dubai, UAE for three years.
