Reflections on Indian English Fiction (Hardbound - 2004)

The book presents a collection of papers that are wide ranging not only in the choice of authors—two of the Big Trio, R.K. Narayan and Raja Rao on the one hand, and the recent ones like Upamanyu Chatterjee and Manju Kapur on the other, but also in the different angles from which these novelists have been discussed. It includes a much talked about author like Arundhati Roy as well as a remarkable but less discussed writer like Ruskin Bond. It consists of feminist study as well as semiotic study and postmodern reading.

Dr Mukesh Ranjan Verma, who had his higher education at Allahabad University, has been teaching in different universities since 1977. At present, he is Professor of English and Dean, Faculty of Humanities at Gurukul Kangri University, Hardwar. Professor Verma has published one book, The Alien Land and co-edited another, Reflections on Indian English Literature. He has written a large number of research papers on both British and Indian English literature. His main area of interest is Indian English fiction.

Dr Ambuj Kumar Sharma, who is a Reader in English at Gurukul Kangri University, Hardwar, has been teaching for nearly two decades. His book, The Theme of Exploitation in the Novels of Mulk Raj Anand, is one of the widely appreciated books on Anand. His another book, Gandhian Strain in Indian English Novel, is to be published shortly. Besides, he has written about a dozen research papers, mainly on Indian English fiction.
