One of 101 titles in the St. Joseph Picture Book Series, this book by popular author Rev. Jude Winkler, OFM. Conv. provides children with simple explanations of the Way of the Cross. The Way of the Cross, also called the Stations of the Cross, is a special way to remember Jesus' journey on Good Friday, the day He gave His life for us. It's like a journey with Jesus as He carried His cross, and we stop at each "station" or point along the way to think about what He went through.
There are 14 stations, and each one tells a part of the story, starting with Jesus being condemned by Pilate and ending with His body being placed in the tomb. Along the way, we remember moments like when Jesus falls under the weight of the cross, when He meets His mother Mary, and when a kind man named Simon helps Him carry the cross. At each station, we pause to think about Jesus' love for us, how much He was willing to suffer, and how brave He was.
Walking the Way of the Cross helps us understand that Jesus went through pain and sadness out of love for us. It teaches us that when we face difficult times, we're not alone--Jesus knows what it feels like and is always with us. The Way of the Cross also encourages us to be strong and kind, like Jesus was, and to help others who might be suffering. Through this journey, we grow closer to Jesus and feel His love for us in a deep way.
