The present book can justifiably claim to be the encyclopedia of English as an Academic Language (EAL). This particular aspect of the study of English aims at developing and honing formal writing skills among students. Most schools with an International curriculum offer this course as such writing skills are a prerequisite to acquiring admission to Universities abroad. This book has been designed to equip EAL teachers with pertinent knowledge and modes of expression which adequately equip them to achieve their teaching aims. Apart from acquainting the teachers with the minutest detail regarding the subject, it also facilitates self-learning and cultivation of the skill by students who wish to work on their Academic writing prowess outside the school structure.
The book has carefully designated chapters for each important component of EAL and has delved deep into areas of importance with a view to perceptively guiding the readers through the process of teaching and learning. Reasonable emphasis has been laid on the pedagogical aspect. It is a comprehensive demonstration of the nuances of the subject with the potential to change the way language teaching happens in Indian schools.
