प्रदीप चंद्र की पहचान एक नामवर छायाकार की रही है। द टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया ग्रुप, द इंडियन एक्सप्रेस और द वीक जैसे देश के प्रतिनिधि समाचार पत्रों के साथ लंबे समय तक कार्य किया और फ़ोटो पत्रकारिता में अपना एक महत्वपूर्ण स्थान बनाया। कैमरे के पीछे प्रदीप चंद्र की एक अनुभवी आँख ही नहीं सृजनात्मक सोच भी रही है और यही कारण है कि उनके चित्र समाचार पत्र-पत्रिकाओं के पृष्ठों तक ही सीमित नहीं रहे बल्कि कला दीर्घा की दीवारों तक भी पहुंचे हैं। प्रदीप चंद्र ने कश्मीरी विस्थापितों, राजस्थान की हवेलियों और कमाठीपुरा के बच्चों जैसे विषयों पर प्रतिष्ठित आर्ट गैलेरियों में प्रदर्शनियाँ की हैं जिन्हें कला जगत में काफ़ी सराहा भी गया। छाया चित्रकारी की अपनी लंबी यात्रा में प्रदीप चंद्र, हिंदी सिने जगत के बड़े और चर्चित कलाकारों के बदलते और ढलते हुए चेहरों को अपने कैमरे के माध्यम से बहुमूल्य दस्तावेज़ में बदलते रहे हैं। कला और फ़िल्म जगत में लगभग चार दशकों के अपने संबंधों के दौरान जमा की गई चित्रों और स्मृतियों की पूंजी को फ़िल्म और कला रसिकों तक पहुँचाना प्रदीप चंद्र की रचनात्मक ज़रुरत भी थी और कलात्मक ज़िम्मेदारी भी लिहाज़ा उन्होंने अमिताभ बच्चन, एम. एफ़. हुसैन, आमिर ख़ान और अभिषेक बच्चन पर काॅफ़ी टेबल बुक लिखी हैं और ये सिलसिला निरंतर जारी है। प्रदीप चंद्र मुंबई में रहते हैं और सपनों की नगरी मुंबई के बारे में एक किताब पर काम कर रहे हैं। Photographer Pradeep Chandra is also a writer and a painter. As a photo-journalist, he has been associated with The Illustrated Weekly of India, The Times of India, The Indian Express, The Week and The Sunday Observer, to name just a few. Some of his memorable shows include The Alien Insiders, his documentation of the plight of Kashmiri refugees; Haveli Dreams, on the havelis of Rajasthan; a tribute to the TajMahal Hotel and an exhibition on the children of Kamathipura. He has participated in several art camps and group shows in India and abroad. He has previously authored a coffee table book on AmitabhBachchan, titled AB The Legend: A Photographer’s Tribute. Chandra currently lives in Mumbai and is working on a book on the city.
