Geography of South Asia studies the geography of South Asian countries comprising Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Maldives. Each of these countries has been considered as a separate, singular region. Therefore, the physiography, climate, soils, natural vegetation, agricultural activities, electric systems, industrial works, trade, transportation, and population have been studied separately, with great detail, for each country in this region.
The book has twenty-three chapters clustered in three parts. First Part, Introduction, comprises four chapters dealing with Definition of Region, Introduction of South Asia, Historical Background of South Asia, and Political Setup. Second Part, Physical Features, has nine chapters comprising The Mountains, The Plateau of South Asia, The Plains of South Asia, Rivers, The Coasts of South Asia, Islands, Climate, Soils, and Natural Vegetation. Third Part, Human Activities of South Asia, includes ten chapters comprising Agriculture, Irrigation System, Electric System, Minerals, Industries, Trade, Transport and Communications, Population, Important Cities and Towns, South Asian Countries at a Glance, and Metric System. A Bibliography has also been provided at the end of the book.
Every topic of the book has been specifically written and explained according to the needs and norms of syllabi for graduate classes in these countries.
