About The Book

Environmental education can be defined as an integral process which deals with man’s interrelationship with his natural and man-made surroundings, including the rate of population growth, pollution resource allocation and depletion, conservation technology and urban and rural planning. It is the study of the factors influencing ecosystems, mental and physical health, living and working conditions, decaying cities and population pressures. Environmental education is intended to promote among citizens, the awareness and understanding of the environment and the concern to initiate responsible action necessary to assure our survival and to improve the quality of life. Environmental Education in India studies the pertinent aspects of the subject which inter alia include environment education concern in India, computer pollution, environment conservation, role of media in creating environmental awareness, environmental disparities, sustainable environment as a curricular value in education for civil society, influence of gender and social position on attitude towards environment, ozone descriptors for air quality standards and green accounting in the perspective of the regime of World Trade Organisation. The book will be highly useful to the students and teachers of environmental education and researchers in this field. It will help policymakers, environmentalists and all those concerned with the cause of environment. Common readers will also find this book interesting and informative.

About The Author

K.R. Gupta has published over a dozen books and more than hundred papers in leading journals published in India and abroad. He has been teaching postgraduate classes and guiding research for about two decades in the University of Jammu and Kurukshetra University. He has worked as an Economist in private as well as public sector. He has edited multi-volume Encyclopaedia of Environment which includes so far published volumes entitled Environment: Problems and Policies; Environment: Global Warming in two volumes and Environmental Legislation in India. More volumes are in press.
