Dianne Burns, BSc(Hons) Nurse Practitioner, MSc (Clinical Leadership), PGCert T&L,  RGN, RNT, SFHEA, is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing at the University of Manchester She is the Programme Director of the PG Cert in Medical and Health Education and Academic Lead of the Advance HE LEAP and Staff Development Programme within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health She also leads the postgraduate Leadership in Professional Practice module within the Division of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work. A Registered General Nurse since 1984, Dianne worked in a variety of acute clinical settings (Acute Medical/Surgical, Orthopaedics, Accident and Emergency) before moving into community nursing to work as a practice nurse then Nurse Practitioner/Nursing Team Coordinator within a large semi-rural GP practice. Each of these roles provides a perfect opportunity for her to draw upon her enthusiasm and passion for engaging with students, colleagues and healthcare practitioners in order to enhance teaching and learning within the university and the wider community.
