The book discusses the basics of capacitor and implementation of planar capacitor in electronic circuits, encompassing design, modelling, fabrication, and characterization of interdigital topology. It deals with the design aspects, fabrication process steps, and finally the test results which have been presented showing the flexibility of simple modification results in two different filter topologies. It also studies the techniques for achieving the broad band performance of the filters. Apart from silicon, the substrate employed is RT Duroid for various circuits’ realization and the same has been presented with the measured performances in this book. The book initiates to explore various filtering applications inherently present in the structure along with the spin-off, It shows simple structure of interdigital topology and the usage of the same for multiple applications spanning from sensor domain to RF (radio frequency). It also covers the realization of structures with CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) compatible processes. The book contains six chapters, out of which first five chapters deal with the realization and spin-off of the interdigital topology, and the sixth chapter concludes the whole study. It will be useful for researchers, engineers, faculty members, and students for basic understanding and practical implementation aspects of the presented topology.

Dr Kamaljeet Singh, M.Tech., Ph.D., is presently working in SEG (System Engineering Group) at U.R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), formerly known as ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), since 2016 and involved in product ionization of C-S-band TT and C transponders along with X-band data transmitters for various missions. He joined ISAC in 1999 and worked in the area of Geo-receiver at C-band. He was posted to Semi-conductor laboratory, near Chandigarh in 2006 where he was trained in thin film from IMEC (Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre) and worked in the area of RF-MEMS. He initiated development of various sensors, productionized physical sensors along with re-establishment of 6-inch MEMS (Micro-electromechanical Systems) Fab Line and was principle investigator for NPMASS (National Programme on Micro and Smart System) project. He has published more than 120 articles in various journals/conferences and is on the review board of many journals. He is the recipient of young scientist awards from INAE, IETE, and ISRO. His published books include RF Principle and its Application in RF-MEMS Switch, Si-RF Technology, and Sensors Based on IC Techniques and its Applications. He is also in the List of World’s Who’s Who due to his scientific contributions.
