Hydrostatics is a comprehensive exploration of the subject, designed to provide readers with a solid foundation in the mathematical principles and concepts that underpin this field. The chapters within this book guide the readers through the intricate world of hydrostatics, from the basic principles to more advanced concepts. The book gives insight into why fluids behave the way they do when they are at rest and how mathematical modelling plays a pivotal role in understanding these behaviours. It studies the fundamental properties of fluids, including their density and specific gravity, and the methods to calculate these important parameters, along with their implications in hydrostatics. It delves into the complexities of calculating the thrust on curved surfaces submerged in fluids, expanding the knowledge of fluid dynamics. It also explores the equilibrium conditions of floating bodies, which have practical applications in ship design and more.
Throughout the book, a number of solved examples have been provided to illustrate the application of mathematical principles to real-world hydrostatic problems. These examples have been designed to enhance the understanding of the subject and provide with the tools to tackle similar problems independently. Additionally, each chapter concludes with a set of exercises to test and reinforce readers’ comprehension of the material. These practical applications will help to bridge the gap between theory and real-world scenarios.
This book will serve as a valuable resource for both students and professionals in the field of mathematics, physics, engineering, and beyond. Whether one is preparing for an examination, seeking to expand his/her knowledge, or simply intrigued by the wonders of hydrostatics, this book will be his/her trusted guide.
