A number of Undertakings were initiated under Public Sector in India by the people at the helm of affairs with great expectations and enthusiastic approach. Dr. B.B. Lal, holds M.Com. degree from the University of Allahabad, and Ph.D. degree from Ranchi University. He is a prolific writer and has great interest in the study of Profit Planning and Control (Budgeting) practices adopted by the public sector undertaking in India and has tried to throw a considerable light on the subject given a short shrift so far. While working as the Controller of Examinations, Ranchi University, Ranchi, he has experienced the real importance of planning and control that has resulted in the fruition of this work. Dr. Lal is at present a Reader, Department of Commerce, Marwari College, Ranchi (a constituent unit of Ranchi University, Ranchi).
