About The Book

Un environnement agr�able pour les pi�tons est une condition pr�alable � la vie dans une ville durable. Cependant, l'ad�quation et la qualit� des �l�ments physiques, qui constituent les composantes les plus importantes d'une rue, peuvent s�rieusement affecter la praticabilit� pi�tonne dans les rues. Historiquement, les rues ont toujours �t� pi�tonnes, mais � l'�re de l'automobile, beaucoup d'entre elles ont perdu cet environnement propice � la marche. L'objectif de cette �tude �tait d'�valuer de mani�re critique la praticabilit� pi�tonne de la rue Mawlawi, une rue c�l�bre de la ville historique de Souleimaniye, en Irak. Des entretiens qualitatifs, un questionnaire quantitatif et des observations directes ont �t� men�s sur quatre grands domaines de la praticabilit� pi�tonne, � savoir le paysage urbain, les am�nagements pi�tonniers, les caract�ristiques de la voirie et l'environnement pi�tonnier. Les r�sultats ont �t� valid�s par un entretien avec des experts locaux. L'�tude a montr� que l'insuffisance et la mauvaise qualit� des �l�ments physiques de la rue ont transform� celle-ci en un environnement dangereux et inconfortable pour la marche, avec un niveau faible et insuffisant de connectivit� et d'accessibilit� pour les pi�tons. Une r�ponse peu attentive � la praticabilit� pi�tonne peut toujours mettre en p�ril l'essence m�me des rues historiques, et cette �tude a tent� de soulever une fois de plus cette pr�occupation.
