La presente monografía aporta una nueva mirada sobre el Accented Cinema en relación con el espacio fílmico y significa una de las primeras contribuciones en español dedicadas a esta forma cinematográfica de índole autobiográfica que versa en torno a la experiencia de la migración.
Al igual que los relatos fílmicos analizados, el libro pone el enfoque en la espacialización nómada, respondiendo así a la poca atención que desde los inicios de la cinematografía se ha prestado al espacio fílmico - y esto a pesar de tratarse del arte de espacio por excelencia, como sostenía É. Rohmer. De este modo el trabajo visibiliza cómo los cineastas C. Akerman, D. Perlov y J. Morder transmiten sus experiencias de la migración enfatizando la importancia que ha tenido la vivencia de la disyunción espacial de cara a sus identidades. Cabe señalar que nos encontramos ante un momento cinematográfico destacado, ya que las películas estudiadas, News from Home (Chantal Akerman, 1977), Diary (David Perlov, 1983) y Mémoire d'un juif tropical (Joseph Morder, 1986), están en la tradición de la vanguardia neoyorquina, surgen en el contexto del auge de las escrituras del yo y marcan un cine que florece fuera del ámbito de los grandes blockbusters y las películas comerciales.
Como desarrolla el estudio, es mediante el espacio fílmico que estas piezas pioneras de la filmación en primera persona dejan constancia de un profundo afecto de desarraigo y desterritorialización al hacer emerger espacios imaginarios-subjetivos, explorar intersticios y yuxtaponer espacios al estilo collage, con el fin de anunciar la conquista de nuevos territorios híbridos y alisados (G. Deleuze).
Madalina Stefan holds a PhD in Romance Philology and Cultural Studies from the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen and a Master's degree in Interamerican Studies from Bielefeld University. She has studied filmmaking in Barcelona and was granted a junior fellowship at the Center of Interdisciplinary Research, as well as two postdoctoral fellowships (WiRe, WWU & Mecila).
In the past years she participated in the organisation and lectureship of several international summer schools and conferences, and has taught at different Universities, such as Pompeu Fabra (Spain), Bielefeld (Germany), Guadalajara (Mexico) and Eberhard Karls University Tübingen (Germany).
Her research interests are literary and cinematographic ecocriticism, gender & postcolonial studies, essay, migration studies & accented cinema, travel & autobiographical writing in film and literature, indigenous cinema & dictatorship in film and literature.
