Spracharbeit im 17. Jh. unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des Einflusses der Fruchtbringenden Gesellschaft auf diese. Zunächst soll in einem ersten Abschnitt die Situation und der Status der dt. Sprache zu Beginn des Jahrhunderts dargestellt werden, da hier der Ausgangspunkt für die Gründung der Fruchtbringenden Gesellschaft, im weiteren FG genannt, liegt. Hierbei soll insbesondere der starke Einfluss des Lateins und Französisch auf die Entwicklung der Muttersprache dargelegt und die Ursache für die Fremdwortübernahme aus diesen Sprachen untersucht werden. Vorweg werde ich eine kurze Erläuterung des Fremd- bzw. Lehnwortbegriffs geben. Im folgenden Abschnitt werde ich mich dann der Entstehung der FG und ihrer Absichten zuwenden, die sich im Wesentlichen auf die Pflege der deutschen Sprache und die Erhaltung der deutschen Tugend beziehen. Indem ich mich hernach mit dem konkreten Wirken, den Erfolgen, der Vielseitigkeit der Spracharbeit sowie der Bedeutung der Fruchtbringenden für die dt. Sprache eingehender beschäftige, sollen die abstrakten Ziele verdeutlicht werden. Daran anschlie end werde ich auf Kaspar Stieler und seiner "Erklärung derer in den Zeitungen gemeiniglich vorkommenden fremden und tunklen Wörter" aus seinem Werk "Zeitungs Lust und Nutz" zu sprechen kommen und diese unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Stichwortauswahl näher analysieren. Vor meiner Abschlussbetrachtung werde ich noch einen Blick auf die Forschungsdebatte über die Begrifflichkeiten Kulturpatriotismus, Sprachkultivierung und Sprachpurismus werfen, wobei ich mich insbesondere auf die Standpunkte von Peter von Polenz und Alan Kirkness beziehen werde, deren verschiedene veröffentlichte Bücher und Forsch
