Australian literature refers to the literary work produced in the area or by the people of the Commonwealth of Australia and its preceding colonies. The Australian literary tradition is linked to the broader tradition of English literature because, in its early Western history, Australia comprised a collection of British colonies. Since the latter half of the 18th century the Australian writers have introduced the character of this continent into literature and explored themes like aboriginality, migration, national identity, egalitarianism, and democracy, among others.
Australian Literature: Paradigms, Praxis and Beyond is a remarkable contribution to the area of study of various themes of Australian literature and the style in which they have been presented. This seminal work also covers the varied forms, including socio-political as well as linguistic aspects.
The book attempts to make the people realize the spirit and endeavour that aborigines and settlers had imbibed in themselves to make their country proud. By virtue of its new approach to the subject, the book will surely be invaluable for all those interested in Australian culture, aboriginal identity and subjectivity as well as multiculturalism. It will give an opportunity to teachers, researchers and academic aspirants to comprehend various changes that took place in Australia and how they are reflected in Australian literature.
