About The Book

Contemporary Indian Women Novelists in English: New Perspectives attempts to study and analyse some prominent Indian women novelists whose contributions to English literature in general and Indian writing in English in particular are immense. The writers included in this anthology are: Anita Desai, Mahasweta Devi, Shashi Deshpande, Arundhati Roy, Bharati Mukherjee, Jhumpa Lahiri, Shobhaa De, Manju Kapur, Jai Nimbkar, Anuradha Roy, Meena Alexander, Lakshmi Kannan, Bama and Volga. The articles selected for this book present the various aspects of the above-mentioned authors as projected in their respective works. The book, we hope, will certainly be welcomed by the students as well as the teachers of English literature.

About The Author

Amar Nath Prasad, M.A. Ph.D., is Associate Professor and head at P.G. Deptt. of English, Jagdam College, J.P. University, Chhapra (Bihar). He is a well-known author, editor, and critic of Indian writing in English. He has to his credit more than a dozen standard books of English literature. He also edits a biannual research journal of English literature. More than fifty of his research papers have been published in different books, magazines, and journals. Some of his interesting books are: (1) Arundhati Roy’s The God of Small Things: A Critical Appraisal, (2) A Critical Response to Indian Writing in English, (3) Ghashiram Kotwal: A Critical Study, (4) Recritiquing John Keats (five other books in this series are also published), (5) Indian Poetry in English: Roots and Blossoms, and (6) Feminism in Indian Writing in English. Ashish Gupta is Associate Professor in the Department of Postgraduate Studies of Research in English in J.H. Govt. P.G. College, Betul (M.P.). He has a teaching experience of 22 years. He has attended several national and international seminars and conferences. Till now, his more than 40 research papers have been published in reputed journals and anthologies. His co-edited book Women Sensibility in Indian Women Novelists has received accolades from different literary corners. He is the associate editor/ member of the editorial/ review/ advisory boards of various prestigious international journals. He has edited one book and co-edited seven books.
