This is volume 3 of a complete 5 volume publication of the entire Bible, in the order in which God meant it to be read. In our first volume, The Law or 'Torah' in Hebrew, the order of the Bible has been left the same in all modern Bibles. It is in volume 2 (The former Prophets), 3 (The major Prophets) and Volume 4('Psalms or Writings' )where we see a drastic changing in the order and number of the scriptures. We know that Jesus Himself knew of the proper order when he stated, "Then He said to them, 'These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me'" (Luke 24:44). Jesus clearly knew that God's word, which we call The Old testament had three sections, or parts. When Jesus referred to the Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms, He was speaking of the entire Old Testament, as we know it today, but in a different order than we have today. The Law, as in other places, referred to the five books of the law written by Moses. The prophets, however, were not the same as found in our Bibles today. They included Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel (but not Daniel) and all of the twelve minor prophets. But they also included Joshua, Judges, 1 and 2 Samuel, and 1 and 2 Kings. This would place 21 books of the Old Testament in the Prophets according to our modern reckoning, but not counted as 22 Why some of the books of history were included and others were not and why Daniel was excluded is not fully understood and I am not ready to go into the complications of these questions here.
