Chronic illness doesn't arrive with a clear beginning or a clean ending. It settles in quietly, reshaping your body, your plans, and your sense of self. In Grateful Anyway, Melissa Boudreau traces her lived experience with endometriosis through years of misdiagnosis, repeated surgeries, career ambition, love, loss of independence, and the long, uneven road back to herself.

At its heart, this is a story about showing up, especially on the days when it feels impossible, learning how to advocate for your body in a system that often doesn't listen, and finding gratitude alongside grief. With honesty, humor, and hard-won insight, Grateful Anyway offers companionship to anyone navigating chronic illness and proof that hope can exist, even when nothing looks the way you planned.

Boudreau, Melissa: - Melissa Boudreau is a writer, patient advocate, and podcast host. After years of living with endometriosis and navigating multiple surgeries, she created The Cycle podcast to amplify honest conversations about chronic illness, resilience, and self-advocacy. Her debut memoir, Grateful Anyway, traces her journey of learning how to keep going, find meaning, and hold onto small wins in the midst of uncertainty.Outside of writing and recording, Melissa mentors women in leadership, supports advocacy efforts across the film industry and women's health. Amongst all this, she still makes time for movie nights, long walks, travel, and exploring nature just outside of Detroit, Michigan, where she lives with her husband, Bryan.
