""Mary Magdalen: A Chronicle"" is a historical novel written by Edgar Saltus, published in 1891. The book tells the story of Mary Magdalene, a woman from Magdala, who becomes a follower of Jesus Christ. The novel is based on the biblical accounts of Mary Magdalene, but Saltus adds his own interpretation and embellishments to the story. The book begins with Mary's childhood in Magdala, where she is raised by her wealthy parents. She is a curious and rebellious child, who questions the traditions of her society. As she grows older, she becomes disillusioned with her life and seeks a deeper meaning. Mary then meets Jesus, who is preaching in her town. She is immediately drawn to him and becomes one of his followers. She travels with him and his disciples, witnessing his miracles and teachings. Mary becomes a devoted disciple of Jesus and is present at his crucifixion and resurrection. After Jesus' death, Mary becomes a leader in the early Christian church. She spreads the message of Jesus and becomes known as the ""apostle to the apostles."" However, she faces persecution from the Roman authorities and is eventually exiled to France. Saltus' novel is a vivid portrayal of Mary Magdalene's life and her role in the early Christian church. It explores themes of faith, love, and redemption, and offers a unique perspective on one of the most fascinating figures in biblical history.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
