'May War Never Come' is a collection of memories gathered from those who lived through the Vietnam wars, accompanied by the author's reflections and commentary.
The preface sets forth the central question that guides the book: who were the children of the war? How did they survive? What were their memories of that time? What did they lose?
The book is divided into four main sections:

1.The North - Evacuation:
Acounts of hardship and separation when children were sent away from their families to rural evacuation zones.
2. The North - Under the Bombs:
Stories of fear, grief, and devastating loss as bombs took parents and loved ones.
3. The South - Journey to the North:
Narratives of children who traveled from South to North Vietnam, facing hunger, exhaustion, loss, and above all, painful separation from their families.
4. The South - Remaining in the Villages:
Experiences of bitterness, endurance, sacrifice, military raids, and imprisonment.

All stories in the book are recorded from real individuals, whose names and birth years are included. Notably, each person was under sixteen years old at the time of the events described.
The book also includes several brief excerpts from works published in the United States and Vietnam by American veterans, including "Bare Feet, Iron Will" by James G. Zumwalt and "Failure to Atone" by Allen Hassan.
The book concludes with a simple yet profound message: May war never come.
