Nacida en una peque�a choza de adobe en Tepehuanes, M�xico, Mar�a Ascensi�n Holgu�n creci� en la pobreza, con hambre y sin el amor de una madre. Hu�rfana a temprana edad, abandonada por su padre, fue criada por abuelos estrictos que le ense�aron lo que es la fortaleza mediante la disciplina y el sacrificio.

Mar�a aprende desde muy joven que la supervivencia exige valent�a, fe y una fuerza inquebrantable. Experimenta un matrimonio precoz, el nacimiento de una hija y una p�rdida devastadora, que finalmente la lleva a cruzar la frontera hacia Estados Unidos para comenzar de nuevo.

Tras conocer a su esposo, Manuel, Mar�a construye una vida desde cero, abriendo restaurantes en Los �ngeles, administrando almacenes de productos agr�colas, siendo due�a de varios negocios incluyendo un club nocturno, invirtiendo en bienes ra�ces y criando una familia. En el camino, enfrent� enfermedades, peligros y angustia, pero nunca se rindi� porque la guiaron su voluntad, fe y resiliencia.
