The Travels of Pedro Teixeira is a historical travelogue written by Pedro Teixeira, a Portuguese explorer and diplomat who traveled extensively in the 17th century. The book includes Teixeira's accounts of his travels to Persia and Harmuz (modern-day Iran), as well as extracts from his Kings of Persia, a chronicle of the Persian Empire. Teixeira's travels took him through some of the most remote and dangerous regions of Persia, including the deserts of Khorasan and the mountains of Kurdistan. He also visited the court of the Safavid Shah, where he observed the customs and traditions of the Persian nobility. In addition to his travelogue, The Travels of Pedro Teixeira includes detailed maps and illustrations, as well as a preface by the editor, Charles R. Boxer, who provides historical context and commentary on Teixeira's observations.
