Feeling stuck in your career? Do you want to move up, move on or set up your own business? This book gives you all the tools you need to develop and implement your break-free plan.
This is the time to act, and this is what this book is giving you. Asking yourself the uncomfortable questions. Responding to them, finding really what you want.
It may be a different position in the same company or department. It could be to resign and start in a different company, in a different industry, changing your professional life completely or become an entrepreneur.
This book can serve as your GPS to break free and strike out in a new direction, starting with the crucial start-point - developing the correct mindset to decide to act! This is followed by detailed, practical advice on how to create your action plan to move ahead.
The above may sound scary and you might be afraid of taking that leap of faith. However, with this book you will find your inner power, your inner strengths. It will guide you to look inside yourself, find your real value and your non negotiables, your values and how to do that famous mindset shift to move on, despite all the personal commitments you have.
It describes the steps to take, encourages you to reflect; starting to write your journal. It shows you how to start networking and how to leverage on the resources that you already have. It lets you feel like a "CEO" of your own career. And a CEO does not function alone. Therefore, you need to have a board of directors. For that you have explicit explanation in the book on how to analyse your network and how to build on it - virtually and in person.
Thinking about what you need to do may look like a huge undertaking. Thus, planning and time management is so hugely important. Setting goals for yourself, for each week, each month and have someone keeping you accountable for these milestones are the essentials and these are explained in the book in a detailed and simple fashion. When I mention goals and milestones, these don't need to be major tasks. These are little steps which will take you a drop forward to your goal. You don't eat a steak in one bite, right? You slice it, you cut it. The same principle here applies. You will slice down your steps which will take you were you want to be. And you do this with help of others, your resources. Your family members, your friends, and peers.
However, it is easier said than done. Changing behaviour is not easy. That's why each day you need to start with an intention for the day. Your affirmation, your mantra. And the more you repeat, the more it will become a practise that you will not even think anymore as it will be automatic.
All the above is fine. But if your mindset is limited, you have misbeliefs which are hindering you to act, nothing will happen. You will find always excuses. And some of them may be legitimate. Some of them though may not. That's the reason I have some chapters only focusing on emotions, such as how to overcome your fears, your fixed mindset. I give examples of breathing techniques, NLP tools that you can use to stay on track.
After all, it is you who needs to decide and define your future. In the book you will find my own example of a vision board. A vision board is a creative way of visualising how you envisage your future. Moreover, have fun during the process and be open minded and curios to see for yourself what you really need and want from life. What is important for you as a person. There is no right or wrong.
You are unique. Some weeks will be easier than others. Sometimes you will do lots of stuff and sometimes you don't achieve anything. It is fine. You are the one to define your pace and deadline. Take life as a dance and adapt to the circumstances.
