Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich BWL - Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte, Note: 2,3, Universität Mannheim, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das Drägerwerk wurde Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts in Lübeck gegründet. Von Anfang an beschäftigte sich das Unternehmen mit Medizintechnik. Die Forschung an Aufbewahrungs- und Transportmöglichkeiten von Gasen sowie der Regulierung ihres Drucks war dabei immer im Mittelpunkt. Diese Entwicklung führte über Sauerstoffmasken und Narkosegeräten für Feuerwehren sowie Krankenhäuser zur Produktion von Gasmaske, die bereits im Ersten Weltkrieg zum Einsatz kamen. Während der NS-Zeit wurden dann die Kapazitäten für die Produktion, unter anderem der so genannten Volksgasmaske, erweitert. Für den Unternehmensgründer Heinrich Dräger war der Export immer ein wichtiges Standbein seiner Firma und er versuchte, diese Politik auch während der Krisenzeiten beizubehalten. So war es für das Unternehmen möglich, sowohl die Inflation als auch die Weltwirtschaftskrise ohne langfristige Folgeschäden zu überstehen. Während des Nationalsozialismus versuchten die Machthaber, lenkend in die Wirtschaft einzugreifen, um im geplanten Krieg so autark wie möglich zu sein. Ein Mittel dazu war unter anderen der Vierjahresplan. Ein Beispiel für die konkrete Steuerung war der Versuch der Rohstoffkontingentierung, die aber letztendlich scheiterte. Diese Hausarbeit soll die Entwicklung der Drägerwerke vom Anfang der Weltwirtschaftskrise und im Nationalsozialismus beschreiben. Dabei steht die Frage im Mittelpunkt, in wie weit die Unternehmensführung um Heinrich Dräger den Vorgaben der Politik folgte, und in wie fern doch eigene Interessen durchgesetzt wurden. Letzteres ist sehr interessant, da Dräger selbst, wie im Einleitungssatz bereits beschrieben, gegenüber den Versuchen der staatlichen Wirtschaftslenkung sehr skeptisch war. Da Heinrich Dräger ein sehr einflussreicher und charismatischer Mann war, wird auch seine persönliche Beziehung zum politischen System und
