Hinter diesem Fall trat die Analyse z. B. des Monopols ganz zuriick. Aber der Fall der allgemeinen, vollstandigen Konkurrenz war und ist nie allein verwirklicht. Auch zur Zeit der Klassiker, im letzten Drittel des 18. und in der ersten Halfte des 19. Jahrhunderts, nicht. Die Kritiker aus dem Kreise der historischen Schule haben vielfach gemeint, die Klassiker hatten nur ihre Zeit gekannt und ihre Theorie hatte vielleicht auf ihre Zeit gepaBt. Eine solche Kritik wird den historischen Tatbestanden nicht gerecht. Auch im Zeitalter der Klassiker gab es in europaischen Kulturlandern viele geschlossene Ziinfte, Monopol- rechte und andere Bindungen sowie Wirtschaftsgebilde mit zentraler Wirtschaftslenkung, so daB schon damals die konkrete geschichtliche Wirklichkeit durch Untersuehung der vollstandigen Konkurrenz nicht voll erfaBt wurde. Wir wissen, warum die Klassiker diese Distanz zwischen Theorie und geschichtlicher Realitat nicht so stark empfande- eben weil sie hauptsachlich die natiirliche, vernunftgemaBe und funktions- fahige Wirtschaft zu finden suchten. Aber diese Distanz ist sachlic- soweit es sich um die Erkenntnis der Realitat handelt - unertraglich.
