Seit Jahrzehnten ist das Handelsspannenproblem Gegenstand wissenschaftlicher Untersuchungen. L� t sich daraus seine grunds�tzliche und zeitlose Bedeutung er- kennen, so liegt eine Best�tigung f�r die zunehmende Aktualit�t der Frage in der wachsenden Zahl der sich speziell oder am Rande mit ihm befassenden Arbeiten. Besonders von 1945 ab ist die Diskussion um die Handelsspanne nur vor�ber- gehend verstummt. Allerdings entsprachen ihre Ergebnisse nicht immer der Heftig- keit, mit der sie bisweilen gef�hrt wurde. Nicht nur mangelnde Sachlichkeit bei den Gespr�chspartnern, sondern auch die Verschiedenheit der verwendeten Begriffe und das Fehlen ausreichender Unterlagen sind der Grund daf�r gewesen. F�r den Verfasser ergab sich daraus der Anla , eine Art Bestandsaufnahme alles dessen zu versuchen, was Wirtschaftstheorie, Recht und kaufm�nnische Praxis bisher zur L�sung des Problems beigetragen haben. Davon ausgehend lag es nahe, eine m�glichst gesthlossene Darstellung des Fra.genkreises anzustreben. Das Manuskript dieser Arbeit wurde bereits 1948 kurz nach der W�hrungsreform fertiggestellt. Da die Druddegung sich aus den verschiedensten Gr�nden leider sehr verz�gerte, ergab sich die Frage, ob nicht eine Neubearbeitung unter Ber�cksich- tigung der seitdem erfolgten Ver�ffentlichungen notwendig sei. Abgesehen davon, da die wichtigste Neuerscheinung auf dem Gebiet der Han- deIsbetriebslehre, die 1951 herausgekommene "Wirtschaftslehre des Handels" von Seyffert, dem Verfasser in Manuskriptform bereits als Quelle vorlag, sprachen mehrere Gr�nde dagegen. Was zun�chst das Grunds�tzliche angeht, so brachten auf dem hier behandelten Gebiet die meisten Publikationen der letzten Zeit trotz mancher wertvoller Ein- sichten nur einen geringen Fortschritt; aufden theoretischen Gehalt dieses Buches h�tten sie keinen wesentlichen Einflu genommen.
