Die schon 1924 abgeschlossene, 1928 in 1. Auflage erschienene Schrift war seit vielen Jahren im Buchhandel vergriffen, da der Verlagsbestand durch Kriegseinwirkungen vernichtet wurde. Wiederholte Anregungen ha- ben mich veranla t, eine �berarbeitete und erweiterte 2. Auflage nach dem neuesten Stande vorzulegen. Ein Hauptanliegen der Schrift liegt darin, durch methodische Entwick- lung der Probleme und L�sungen eine systematische Kenntnis der Grund- lagen und Mittel der Leistungsentlohnung zu verschaffen. Erst der dadurch gewonnene �berblick �ber die grunds�tzlichen Gestaltungsm�glichkeiten der Leistungsentlohnung liefert die Voraussetzungen, im praktischen Einzel- fall die sicherlich nicht leichte Aufgabe der Einf�hrung oder Verbesserung eines Leistungslohnes in der Unternehmung zu erf�llen. Es gen�gt nicht, vorhandene Schemata und Lohnverfahren, die irgendwann einmal unter ganz bestimmten Bedingungen geeignet waren, einfach zu verwenden. Jeder konkrete Fall der Praxis erfordert eine genaue Analyse des Arbeitsprozesses und eine darauf abgestimmte Lohnform. Daher mu strenggenommen in jeder Unternehmung ein den besonderen Verh�ltnissen entsprechender spezifischer Leistungslohn entwickelt werden, so da die Kenntnis einer Anzahl typischer Leistungsl�hne allein noch nicht ausreicht, die praktische Aufgabe zu bew�ltigen. Es kommt vielmehr darauf an, einen sachlich fundierten �berblick �ber s�mtliche Mittel neuzeitlicher Lohngestaltung zu besitzen und vor allem auch �ber das Wissen zu verf�gen, da und wie jede beliebige Lohnform gebildet werden kann. Erst mit diesem R�stzeug l� t sich in jeder Unternehmung das geeignete Lohnsystem entwickelu. Die 1. Auflage verfolgte das Ziel, vom betriebswirtschaftlichen Stand- punkt aus eine grundlegendeUntersuchung aller damals bekannten Lohn- formen durchzuf�hren und ein allgemeing�ltiges strukturelles System zu entwickeln.
