Dieses Merkmal der modernen Wirtschaft zeigt sich deutlich, wenn man den Zeitraum betrachtet, in dem sich ein Pro- dukt auf dem Markt halten kann: Viele Erzeugnisse, die heute auf dem Markt sind, waren vor 5 Jahren noch unbekannt. Man darf nur an die Kraftfahrzeug-Industrie, an die Flugzeugindustrie oder an die Elektro- industrie erinnern, die aus Konkurrenzgrunden gezwungen sind, etwa aIle 2 bis 4 Jahre neue Modelle herauszubringen. Die Konsequenzen, die sich aus den laufenden Veranderungen der Absatzmarkte und aus dem raschen tech- nischen Fortschritt fur die Unternehmensfiihrungen ergeben, zwingen zu einer standigen Anpassung der industriellen Erzeugnisse und der Produk- tionsmittel an diese dynamische Entwicklung. Das bedeutet, daB standig neue Produkte und neue Produktionsverfahren in den ProduktionsprozeB der Industrie eingeplant werden mussen. In der betrieblichen Praxis ergeben sich dabei Schwierigkeiten in der Fertigungsplanung und Fertigungssteuerung, in der Finanzplanung, ja in der gesamten betrieblichen Planung, wei! es an Erfahrung, Kenntnis und Fertigkeit fehlt in der Herstellung der neuen Er- zeugnisse oder in der Handhabung neuer Produktionsmittel. In der betrieb- lichen Praxis spricht man davon, daB man die Fertigung oder das Fertigungs- verfahren "noch in den Griff bekommen" muB. In der Folge treten Engpasse im gesamten Produktionsbereich eines Unternehmens auf, die sich nicht nur auf Termine, Erzeugnismengen, auf das Personalproblem usw. auswirken, sondern ebenso die Kosten und die Gewinne beeinflussen.
