About The Book

Der AnstoB zu dieser Broschure ergab sich aus einem von Prof. Kordt und mir geleiteten Seminar im Sommersemester 1968, zu dessen AbschluB Prof. Schmolders ein Referat hielt mit dem Thema Der Kreisauer Kreis: Eine Widerstandsbewegung mit Programm. Aus der daran anschlieBen- den Diskussion entsprang der Wunsch, einen groBeren Kreis mit den ver- fassungspolitischen Gedankengangen und der daraus resultierenden Wirt- schaftsordnungskonzeption einer Gruppe bekannt zu machen, die es, getrieben von der Sorge urn die Entwicklung in Deutschland, unter Ein- satz ihrer Freiheit und ihres Lebens als ihre Aufgabe betrachtete, den organisatorischen Rahmen eines neuen Deutschland zu planen, welcher die von ihnen gesetzten Werte - der an die Sittlichkeit gebundenen freien Selbstentfaltung - zu verwirklichen versprach. Abgesehen von dem histo- rischen Wert dieser Veroffentlichung mag die Darlegung der fur die Kreisauer grundlegenden Werte einer Demokratie und der ihrer Ver- wirklichung adaquaten Institutionen dazu beitragen, die heutige Diskus- sion wieder auf die Grundsatzjragen der Demokratischen Existenz heute zuruc: kzufuhren. Ich mochte an dieser Stelle meinen ganz besonderen Dank Professor Dr. Dr. h. c. G. Schmolders aussprechen, der es unternahm, seine hier voll- standig wiedergegebene Denkschrift fur den Kreisauer Kreis in dessen verfassungspolitische Vorstellungen einzuordnen und uns heute zugang- lich zu machen.
