Mr. M.M.S. Karki is a retired senior scientist (Scientist ‘F’) of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India. At the time of retirement Mr. Karki was holding a senior position in the editorial office of the National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR). He has more than 33 years experience of editing/writing. Several scientific and popular science articles in national and international journals are to his credit. For about seven years Mr. Karki was mainly engaged in the IPR-related activities. He was editor of a bimonthly journal entitled Journal of Intellectual Property Rights. Mr. Karki contributed many articles on this subject in the national and international journals. As editor of the journal, he was in close contact with several renowned international and national IPR experts. He has also edited a book entitled Maharaja’s New Clothes—A Patent Chronicle published by the Publications & Information Directorate, CSIR. He was associated with the compilation of Intellectual Property and Competitive Strategies in 21st Century by R.A. Mashelkar and Shahid Alikhan (Kluwer Law International). Mr. Karki delivered lectures on basics of IPR in the short-term courses on science communication conducted by NISCAIR. He participated in a number of international and national IPR seminars and symposia. Mr. Karki is a regular contributor of Invention Intelligence’s ‘IPR Corner’ column.
