This book deals with the burning issue of public sector in India. It is based on the National Seminar on Rationale of Public Sector in India organised by the Department of Economics, Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur. The book consists of valuable papers contributed by eminent scholars in the field. Majority of the contributors have strongly and categorically underlined the significance, rather indispensibility of public sector in planned development of Indian economy. Recently there has been a nationwide open discussion on the very rationale of the existing public sector. The present volume looks at the need and the working of public sector in our mixed economy. Hopefully, the book would prove to be of immense value to the economists and other social scientists, policymakers, public enterprise administrators, researchers, students and all those interested in the developmental issues of India.
