Eleanor H. Porter's Pollyanna narrates the story of eternally optimistic Pollyanna who goes to live with her strict aunt Polly after being orphaned. Despite her challenging situation, Pollyanna introduces her "Glad Game," finding joy in even the most difficult circumstances. Her contagious positivity begins to transform the lives of those around her, uplifting even the most cynical townsfolk. However, when tragedy strikes, Pollyanna faces the ultimate test of her optimism. Originally published in 1913 by Eleanor H. Porter, this timeless narrative highlights the resilience of the human spirit. It emphasises that kindness, positivity and hope can triumph over adversity, inspiring readers of all ages to discover silver linings and reminding us that there's always something to be glad about.

Eleanor H. Porter (1868–1920) was a celebrated American novelist best known for her beloved children’s book Pollyanna. Born in Littleton, New Hampshire, she had a fervent passion for the arts, initially training as a vocalist before turning to writing. After publishing various short stories and articles, Porter gained lasting fame with Pollyanna in 1913, which features a cheerful girl who finds joy even in adversity. This optimistic tale resonated with readers, establishing itself as a classic in children's literature. Although Porter wrote many other works, none achieved the same success as her iconic first novel.
