Ich erinnere mich daran, dass ein Mädchen zu Besuch bei uns war, als ich etwa fünf Jahre alt war. Ich glaube, ihre Mutter war mit meiner Mutter befreundet. Sie zeigte mir, wie man ein Gesicht zeichnet: Zuerst eine "U", dann oben eine Spirale, die den Pony darstellte, und anschließend die Augen, eine kleine "u" als Mund, die Nase und vieles mehr. Diesen Moment werde ich nie vergessen.In der Grundschule und auf der weiterführenden Schule gewann ich jeden Mal- und Zeichenwettbewerb. Bis heute lasse ich keine Gelegenheit aus, zu zeichnen, wenn ich einen Stift und eine freie Fläche zur Verfügung habe.Ich habe Architektur studiert und meine Jahre als Architektin sehr genossen. Allerdings blieb mir wenig Zeit, meine kleinen Figuren frei zu zeichnen. Später heiratete ich und zog nach Edinburgh in Schottland - eine Stadt voller Charme und Inspiration.Als ich Mutter wurde, schenkten mir meine Kinder neue Energie und neue Inspiration. Meine Illustrationen wandten sich immer stärker der Welt der Kinder zu. Seitdem ist die Aquarellmalerei meine liebste Technik, denn sie eignet sich wunderbar für Bilder, die sanft und zugleich voller Leben sind.Auch heute zeichne ich noch - mehr denn je. Es ist ein Privileg, das ich sehr schätze und genieße. Dadurch lernte ich schließlich Federica kennen, die mich einlud, an ihrer wunderschönen Geschichte über Noemí mitzuarbeiten - ein kleines Mädchen, das uns daran erinnert, dass uns nichts aufhalten kann, wenn wir einen Traum haben und mit Entschlossenheit verfolgen."
