About The Book

"When Zecco first wiggled out of his egg, he was a tiny thing, less than an inch and a half long. At that time, he had no idea that he was anything special in the world. But as time went by and he began to mature, things started to change. And Zecco became something the world had never seen before. Something so strange, so exotic, so amazing, that he defied explanation."

So begins The Many Worlds of Zecco the Gecko, the illustrated middle grade novel that tells an entertaining story full of action, adventure and humor. In this book, Zecco, a Mediterranean house gecko, who is part of a scientific experiment to give animals human intelligence, escapes from the lab and goes off in search of adventure. He soon meets up with Erin and Robby, two science students who worked in the lab (and who facilitated his escape), and he also meets up with other escaped former lab animals.

Just as he had hoped, Zecco finds plenty of adventures out in the big wide world. He forms a friendship with a rabbit, locates a dog that has become trapped in a dry well, assembles the Mission Amazing Task Force to attempt a rescue, and finally puts together a plan to stop the bad scientist from doing really bad science.

The book is also an entertaining way for students to learn how good scientists do good science by using the scientific method, and how they can treat lab animals ethically and humanely.
