Tuttavia, la Cyclorana platycephala ha sviluppato una strategia radicalmente diversa: immagazzina grandi quantit� di acqua nei tessuti corporei, nei muscoli, nella vescica e persino tra gli strati cutanei per sopravvivere alle estenuanti stagioni secche caratteristiche dell'entroterra australiano. Quest'acqua immagazzinata pu� sostenere la rana per mesi sottoterra, una capacit� ineguagliata dalla maggior parte degli anfibi al mondo.
