Natural inspirations in the forms of zebra stripes, rippled sand dunes, and intricately gnarled wood grain have led us to use stripes in every permutation: on human bodies from elaborate woven textiles to the iconic Breton T-shirt to sharp pin-striped suits, in art from the earliest cave paintings to vibrant op art canvases, and in industrial design from World War II-era dazzle battleships to the ubiquitous bar code. About The Author

Noted design editor and writer Linda O'Keeffe has been involved in design for over three decades, including sixteen years as the creative director at Metropolitan Home magazine. She currently contributes to a variety of shelter and architecture publications, lectures, moderates panels, and appears regularly on radio and television design programs. She is the author of Brilliant: Design in White (The Monacelli Press, 2011), Shoes: A Celebration of Pumps, Sandals, Slippers & More and The Seven Deadly Sins of Decorating.
