A Little Tragedy At Tien-Tsin is a novel written by Frances Aymar Mathews, first published in 1904. The story is set in the late 19th century in Tien-Tsin, a port city in northern China. The protagonist of the story is a young American woman named Dorothy, who travels to China with her father, a wealthy businessman. Dorothy falls in love with a British officer named Captain Jack, who is stationed in Tien-Tsin. However, their love is forbidden due to the societal norms of the time, which do not allow for interracial relationships. Despite this, they continue to see each other secretly, and their love grows stronger.As tensions rise between the Chinese and foreign powers in Tien-Tsin, Dorothy and Captain Jack find themselves caught up in the violence and chaos. Their love is put to the test as they struggle to survive and protect each other in the midst of the conflict.A Little Tragedy At Tien-Tsin is a poignant tale of love, sacrifice, and tragedy set against the backdrop of a turbulent period in Chinese history.
