""The Bravo of Venice"" is a historical novel written by Matthew G. Lewis, first published in 1804. The story is set in Venice during the 16th century and follows the life of Renzo, a young man who is falsely accused of murder. Renzo is forced to flee to the island of Cyprus to escape the wrath of the Venetian authorities. In Cyprus, he meets and falls in love with the beautiful and wealthy Donna Isabella, who is also being pursued by the evil and cunning Don Francisco. Renzo must fight to protect his love from Don Francisco's advances while trying to clear his name and return to Venice. The novel is known for its vivid descriptions of Venetian life and customs, as well as its exploration of themes of love, honor, and revenge. It is considered one of the most popular works of Gothic literature and has been adapted into several stage plays and operas.And now rushed the unfortunate wildly through the streets of Venice. He railed at fortune; he laughed and cursed by turns; yet sometimes he suddenly stood still, seemed as pondering on some great and wondrous enterprise, and then again rushed onwards, as if hastening to its execution.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
