""The Twig of Thorn"" is a two-act play that tells the story of an Irish fairy who falls in love with a mortal man. The fairy, named Aine, is punished by her queen for breaking the rules of the fairy world and is transformed into a twig of thorn. She is then discovered by the mortal man, Donal, who takes her home and cares for her. As they spend time together, they fall in love, but their relationship is threatened by the interference of the fairy queen and the mortal world's disapproval of their union. The play explores themes of love, sacrifice, and the clash between the mortal and fairy worlds. Written by Marie Josephine Warren, ""The Twig of Thorn"" is a classic example of Irish folklore and fairy tales.1913. The play is set in the cottage of Nessa Teig, in County Galway, near Kylebeg, in the year of the Great Famine and takes place from March through Winter of the same period. A most poignant story.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
