The Would Be Gentleman by Moliere is a comedic play that follows the story of Monsieur Jourdain, a middle-aged bourgeois who aspires to become a gentleman despite his lack of education and social status. Jourdain is determined to learn the ways of the aristocracy and hires various professionals to teach him music, dance, fencing, and philosophy. Along the way, he falls in love with a young and beautiful noblewoman named Dorimene, who he hopes to impress with his newfound knowledge and status.However, Jourdain's attempts to become a gentleman are met with ridicule and deception from those around him, including his wife, his servants, and his teachers. Despite their efforts to exploit Jourdain's ignorance for their own gain, he remains oblivious to their schemes and continues to pursue his dream of becoming a gentleman.The play is a satire of the social hierarchy and the obsession with status and class in 17th century France. Moliere uses humor and irony to expose the absurdity of Jourdain's aspirations and the hypocrisy of the aristocracy.
