Two darkly comic one-act plays by Rodney Quinn.

In My Friend Al, Chris is a young man with a troubled past whose growing dependence on alcohol is slowly dismantling his life. As relationships fracture and options narrow, he turns increasingly to Al - his constant companion, confidant, and enabler. Witty, unsettling and sharply observed, the play offers a frank and darkly funny exploration of addiction, denial and self-deception.

In Doug & Lillian, Lillian has been married to Doug for many, many years. With their wedding anniversary approaching, she is carrying a secret - one she may or may not choose to share with the curious, eccentric figures who populate her 1970s suburban world. What begins as gentle domestic comedy edges steadily towards something far stranger, in a darkly comic tale with a macabre twist.

By turns absurd, humane and unsettling, Two Plays of Milk and Alcohol brings together two compact, sharply written one-act plays that combine humour with uncomfortable truths - works well suited to community and fringe theatre performance.

About The Author

Quinn, Rodney: - Rodney grew up County Wicklow, Ireland, until his mother moved to London with him and his siblings. From early on he travelled around a lot. Backwards and forwards to Ireland: Galway, and later Cork. A Buddhist group in Leicester. Glasgow. Rodney started writing in the early 1990s when in Cork. Being dyslexic, he began messing around with wordplay poems. He started writing plays in 2004, when he was involved with the Cork Arts Theatre. It was then that he wrote Over The Top and Birds Still Fly (also published by Amaurea Press, in Two Plays of War and Peace). He has continued writing since, with performances of his plays in Ireland, London, Scotland and Australia. He is currently based in London.
